ABSTRACT

The online grammar tasks were used repeatedly with groups of English as foreign language (EFL) freshman students at College of Languages and Translation (COLT) over six semesters. Based on the findings of studies reported and results of the student and teacher questionnaire-surveys, this chapter proposes the integration of Internet grammar websites with different types of online tasks in EFL grammar instruction as a supplement to in-class grammar instruction. Grammar instruction was introduced in the context of American history and geography. The chapter provides examples of grammar websites that target specific grammatical structures and shows the types of online grammar tasks that students can perform on their own out of class and the instructional stages that can be followed. It also provides guidelines for selecting online grammar websites and performing online tasks. Use of technology in grammar instruction is becoming more and more popular.
