ABSTRACT
This chapter explores what mysterious, magic quality actually is, where this heightened emotional loading comes from, and how it contributes to the surge of energy which drives such a strongly directed current of motivation. A significant and highly characteristic aspect of Directed Motivational Current (DMC) is the positive emotional tenor and unique sense of joy and satisfaction exhibited by those caught up in the current. The chapter describes the unique sense of joy and fulfilment it produces as emanating from an interplay between various elements of eudaimonic well-being and from a true sense of personal authenticity, both triggered from the approach toward a highly valued, self-concordant final goal/vision. Eudaimonic well-being is a concept which originates with Aristotle and is widely used in positive psychology to refer to a deep and often enduring sense of personal contentment, as contrasted with a more transitory, euphoric and in-the-moment experience of happiness.
