ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the concept of identity, a theoretical account of narrative analysis and the ways in which frameworks can come together to help us better understand the process of identity construction through language. It describes the identity construction via linguistic communication, people must reiterate that identities can be both individually and co-constructed and what is of utmost importance is that language is a strong medium for the projection or expression of specific identities. The chapter analyzes the automated and corpus-based approach of frequency and keyword lists, as well as concordances, but for the investigation of identity construction through narratives, a more manually driven qualitative approach. It deals with the findings in terms of reflection and identity formation. This chapter explains the expression of identities by the student teachers. It explores the teacher discourse, which is a new endeavor in Language Teacher Education (LTE).
