ABSTRACT

The initial question a client asks is:

‘Where can I find a management consultant with the knowledge and experience to help me to solve my business problem?’ This is followed closely by, ‘Which of the consultants are best for me and my company?’ and, ‘Which consultant can I trust to handle confidential information about my company with integrity and in a trustworthy manner?’

The first question is often answered by asking around. Anecdotal evidence of work carried out for other clients can be obtained through business colleagues, the Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Directors, CBI and similar bodies. Another way is to approach the Institute of Management Consultants’ Client Support Service. This service provides a shortlist of three or four consultancies which could respond to the client’s needs.
