ABSTRACT
This chapter explores how cognitive linguistics may inform, inspire, and enhance language pedagogy. The chapter covers the following issues: (i) historical perspectives on language pedagogy including new perspectives offered by cognitive linguistics, (ii) critical issues and topics related to the application of cognitive linguistics to pedagogy, (iii) current contributions and research, (iv) recommendations, and (v) future directions in this area of work.
