ABSTRACT

One of the most important tasks that teachers have in the classroom is that of creating an environment where students from different cultural backgrounds can feel welcomed and valued. This chapter proposes a pedagogical intervention where inclusive pedagogy is used in literature lessons to build bonds between local and international students in a Singaporean school. Students are engaged as partners in creating an inclusive environment through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) framework, which involves students as co-creators of the literature unit and co-participants in the PAR.
