ABSTRACT
The color line continues to divide the United States in the 21st century. Highlighted in this chapter is a racial identity mapping process utilized in an undergraduate art education course in which students are empowered to speak from their experience and place of racial difference/power/privilege. Engagement in potentially difficult conversations, when the personal is political, and research on self in relationship to others have the potential to bridge the racial divide among diverse racial communities.
