ABSTRACT
There is great enthusiasm among scientists for the practical possibilities of embryonic stem cells in human therapy. This enthusiasm has been communicated to the general public. But I have described the difficulties and the risks involved. It is by no means clear how these problems will be resolved. A policy of prudence and caution would be the best policy.
