ABSTRACT

A brief review of topics from calculus needed for actuarial science including: exponents and logarithms, arithmetic and geometric sequences and series, differentiation, integration, and Taylor Series and Polynomials. An introduction to the use of the TI BA II Plus and TI 30SX MultiView calculators to solve problems involving exponents, logarithms, and finite and infinite series such as are encountered in actuarial science. It is assumed that students have completed an introductory course in differential and integral calculus. They need not have seen sequences and series as this material is largely self-contained in this chapter.
