ABSTRACT
The focus of this chapter is on transform domain-based shape feature extraction techniques. Different techniques such as Fourier descriptors, wavelet transforms, angular radial transformation, shape signature harmonic embedding, ?-Transform and shapelet descriptors are discussed in this chapter. Types of Fourier descriptors including one-dimensional and region-based are also included. The benefits and limitations of each method are discussed. All the techniques are represented in such a way that they will be easy to understand for those who are new to the research field as most of the techniques are described with equations and pictorial representations.
