ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a comprehensive review on hybrid powertrains and their characteristics. The chapter begins with the history of hybrid powertrains and describes the state-of-the-art technologies in this eld. Fundamental components, subsystems, and their limitations are discussed in the second section of this chapter. Regenerative braking concept, blended regenerative braking, and its essential requirements are described in the third section. Finally, very detailed hybrid powertrain control concepts are addressed at the end of this chapter.
