ABSTRACT

Tribology, named by the British Lubrication Engineering Working Group in 1966, is the science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion and related subjects and practices [1]. It is a multidisciplinary science closely related to materials science and engineering, surface science and engineering, physics, chemistry, and mechanical science and engineering. Tribological technologies that include friction control, wear reduction, lubrication, and tribological interface fabrication have played irreplaceable and indispensable functions in the development of modern machinery.
