ABSTRACT
Executive summary: About 30% of large software applications in 2016 are built in more than one country. Popular outsource destinations with good software personnel and lower costs than mainland Europe and the United States include India, Ireland , Malaysia, Peru, and the Philippines. Long distances over many time zones make physical travel expensive. Conference calls or video conferences are inconvenient due to spanning many time zones. It is technically possible to build a virtual reality development environment that can improve coordination for global software development.
