ABSTRACT

Linear ion traps (LITs) have proliferated in mass spectrometry in the past decade, rst as storage devices and then as mass spectrometers [1]. The major advantages of linear ion traps include high trapping efciencies and large charge containment capacities, as well as the relative ease of hybridization with other ion processing units. This chapter provides a description of linear ion traps with mass-selective axial ion ejection as practiced in QTRAP® instruments.
