ABSTRACT

To address this problem, the flooring subcontractor should not place the flooring until there is minimal moisture in the concrete. This drying process can obviously have a tremendous schedule impact. A calcium chloride test or in-situ relative humidity test, appropriately performed by the respective flooring subcontractor (Figure 33.1), can determine if the moisture content is low enough to meet the respective manufacturer’s recommendations. If the moisture readings are higher than allowed by the manufacturer, one

remedy which does not significantly impact the schedule will be to seal the concrete; this is a costly solution.
