ABSTRACT
A previously healthy 9-year-old girl presents to the emergency department with 24 hours of acute onset lower abdominal pain that has progressively increased in severity and become more right-sided. She vomited twice soon after the onset of the pain, but is presently hungry. The patient is premenarchal and has never had similar episodes.
