ABSTRACT

There are three primary types of vibration absorbers: passive, semi-active and active. The earliest class of vibration absorbers is passive absorbers, which do not require any additional source of power to work. Next class is semi-active actuators that behave essentially as passive elements. Their active control property came form the fact that their passive mechanical properties can be adjusted, e.g. use of electrorhological fluids, shape memory alloys, etc. The latest class of vibration absorbers is the active absorbers, which are based on modern control theory, and one simple type will be presented in this paper. Main objective of active mechanical vibration control is to reduce vibrations of mechanical system modifying systems structural response. Important parts of any such system are: vibration detector, electronic controller and actuator. Bond-graphs are used to describe mechanical and electrical models. Using software, Bond-Sim (Damić & Montgomery, 2003), numerical simulation of described model can be obtained.
