ABSTRACT
The purpose of a railway track structure is to provide a stable, safe and efficient guided platform for the train wheels to run at various speeds with different axle loadings. To achieve these objectives, the vertical and lateral alignments of trackmust bemaintained and each component of the structure must perform its desired functions satisfactorily under various axle loads, speeds, environmental and operational conditions.
