ABSTRACT

State-of-the-art thermal, ultrasonics, and X-ray and THz tomography methods-In addition to developing numerous advanced NDE methods which are needed for inspection and certifications of flight hardware, the GRC NDE Wave and Image Processor Software is the most in demand with over 200 downloads from aerospace, biomedical, and other industries. Its latest development in transferring the majority of algorithms from VAX-based minicomputer to PC environments using Lab View is supported by the NASA Engineering Safety Center and includes a 64-bit version for large data processing. It allows the use and prototyping of state-ofthe-art algorithms for visualization, processing, and analysis of NDE data on single software platform independent of vendors software, with no end-user software programming required. GRC recently developed a THz 3-D tomography system with 2 mm resolution and an X-ray computed tomography (CT) system with 0.075 mm resolution over a 29 × 23 cm, with GRC custom analysis software for “Unwrapping” cylindrical CT data.
