ABSTRACT

There are significant quantities of wellhead natural gases that do not meet pipeline specifications for the acid gases H2S and CO2. In the past, only H2S posed a significant disposal problem. Carbon dioxide was not considered a pollutant, and after removal from wellhead gas it was vented to the atmosphere or used in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). However, with the current emphasis on climate change, the venting of CO2 will be an important issue in the future.
