ABSTRACT

Pumps are devices for moving liquids and modern life would be extremely difficult without them. This chapter provides a brief introduction to pumps in natural gas processing. Following a short discussion of the various energy terms and equivalent hydraulic heads, the discussion focuses primarily on centrifugal, reciprocating, and rotary pump performance. Little attention is given to theory, construction, installation, maintenance, and diagnostics. For more comprehensive, indepth presentations see other references such as Karassik et al.
