ABSTRACT

The use of thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules has been increasing continuously, and their share in the rapidly growing global market increases anywhere between 10% and 20% from year to year. In 2010, the annual production of thinfilm PV modules reached 3.2 gigawatts (GW) of nominal power. Compared to the dominating wafer-based crystalline silicon PV modules, thin-film PV accounted for 15% of global PV module production in 2010 (Jäger-Waldau 2011).
