ABSTRACT
One of the chief characteristics of the animal kingdom is its ability to move from place to place. While plants are stationary, animals move about. This characteristic is attributable to the bones and muscles working together under the control of the central nervous system. Chapter 10 addressed the skeletal system, so, except for the fact that the muscles are attached to the bones, that system will not be addressed in this chapter.
