ABSTRACT
All forms of hypertension can be complicated by a hypertensive crisis, determined primarily by the absolute level of BP and the rapidity (abruptness) with which the critical level is reached. Therapy in such crises is dictated mainly by the resultant or imminent complications (e.g. aortic dissection, heart failure) rather than by the absolute BP.
