ABSTRACT
Etymologically speaking, exploratory multivariate analysis refers to two important concepts: the rst one being the concept of exploration, “the action of traveling in or through an unfamiliar area in order to learn about it” (New Oxford American Dictionary), and the second one being the concept of multivariate, by denition “involving two or more variable quantities” (New Oxford American Dictionary). Therefore, the generic research question for exploratory multivariate analysis could be expressed in the following way: How to explore complex (multivariate) data in order to get meaningful insights?
