For the analysis of survival times, it is necessary to identify a start date for participation in the study. Some possible start dates are date of birth, date of diagnosis, therapy start date, and date or time of an exposure to a toxin. In addition, it is also necessary to identify the date on which the event of interest occurs or the date of study completion.
