ABSTRACT

Upon commencing an MDI implementation, frequently as part of the RFI or RFP, MDI solution providers need to understand the scope of the medical device integration rollout (quantities, locations) and the desired workflow objectives (e.g., health IT system integration, data warehousing, other). Aside from creating an accurate cost and implementation proposal, having a medical device inventory (e.g., maintained through clinical or biomedical engineering departments) that describes which types of medical devices are in use in each department also lends itself to better management of inventory in those environments.
