ABSTRACT
In 1966 Harold Stanley ‘Jim’ Ede (1895-1990) gave Kettle’s Yard to the University of
Cambridge. With its meticulously designed display of art, furniture, everyday and
found objects, the house represented Ede’s ‘masterpiece’, a work of art in its own
right that summed up his philosophy and way of life (Figure 8.1).
