ABSTRACT

In April 1996 the National Trust property, 2 Willow Road, Hampstead, opened to the

public. I was custodian of the property from January 1996 until February 2005. The

house was built in 1938-9 by the architect Ernö Goldfinger as a home for his family.

The Goldfingers lived there until their deaths, Ernö dying in 1987 and Ursula, his wife

in 1994. Partly as a result of Goldfinger’s conviction in the ‘rightness’ of his design
