ABSTRACT
Sadr al-din al-Shirazi (Mulla Sadra) (d. 1050/1640), who interpreted it predominantly from the position of his doctrine of al-haraka al-jawhariyya (substantial motion) (see Shirazi, 1986, 7: 83-4). The eschatological symbolism of the habb was also important to the Sufis, who treated it as an aya describing the mystic’s spiritual awakening.
