ABSTRACT

In the first chapter we examined some of the theories and research concerning how young children learn best. We touched on the role of the adult and, in this chapter, we will go into this in more detail. For those of us working with young children a sound understanding of how children learn is only of use to us if we are able to act on it in the settings we offer to children and their parents. We need to understand what we can do to ensure that children are learning and developing in these settings.
