ABSTRACT
In this chapter we examine in detail what children are expected to know and do by the time they reach compulsory school age in two areas of learning: Personal and Social Development and Language and Literacy Development. More importantly we look at ways of promoting the development of the Desirable Outcomes in ways which fit in with what is known about how young children learn best.
