ABSTRACT

The world that children explore from the moment of birth extends wider than the exploration of the people and objects in it. Children also struggle to understand the nature of the world. They want to find out why and how things happen: what takes place in the wider community; how things used to be and how things are in different places. They also use every means available to them to express their own thoughts, ideas, hypotheses and feelings. If we try and break this down into traditional areas of the curriculum we are talking about science and technology, about history and geography and about art, music, dance and drama.
