ABSTRACT

In the US soap Dallas, viewing figures plummeted after Bobby Ewing was shot and killed at the end of series six. In desperation the directors decided

to bring Bobby back in series eight. The intervening series seven was explained away as a bad dream by Pam, Bobby’s wife. However, the scriptwriters were left with a series of inconsistencies: actors had changed, sets had been destroyed. Viewers of series eight noticed that characters that had been part of Pam’s dream were still present, and others who had been there before the dream, had disappeared. The house that Ray and Donna lost in the floods during Pam’s dream, was not reinstated.
