ABSTRACT

The communication industries have been central to the development of contemporary societies, and the primary roles of the communication industries have been crucial to the establishment of nation-states and the development of the public sphere and democracy, as well as the rise of capitalist commercial enterprises. Due to their pivotal roles in association with human freedom and national identity, as well as in the formation of political culture, many governments in the world have utilized their media/telecommunications policy as the principle means by which people are informed and entertained (Flew, 2007).
