ABSTRACT

This chapter includes careers in Pre-K through 12th grade education leadership, but careers do not include the principal or other leaders located directly in the school. It discusses the leaders who are found in educational agencies outside of the school itself that lead on-site educators who directly impact children and their families. For instance, the schools may be gathered together in a school district with a superintendent as a leader for all schools in the particular district. The most common educational leadership positions are located in school districts, county offices, state offices, and national offices. Most of these positions are governmental or public positions. The personal qualities and experiences that helped Stan succeed began early in life. He has interacted with a wide range of people and cultures. Leading a major agency takes management abilities, vision, and plenty of relevant experience.
