ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a variety of positions in a variety of settings. The percentage of work and number of simultaneous jobs also vary. For instance, a consultant may have two or three contracts at once and thereby really be working on a full-time basis. Some consultants, however, prefer to work on a strictly part-time basis. Also, a specialist may work directly for one employer on a full-time or part-time basis. As an educational consultant or educational specialist, there are lots of possibilities and some risks involved. One can have part-time or contract work or be self-employed full-time. Due to the short-term and contractual nature of much of this work, the home office is the place where most of it takes place. Consultants and specialists usually work out of their home. They can get contracts from various nonprofit or educational agencies, and from local, state, and federal governments.
