ABSTRACT

Higher education professor and administrator positions are varied, flexible, and found in many different settings. In regards to child and adolescent development as a career, one can work in a college of education or a psychology department. One can also work in varied college or university settings, including two-year colleges and four-year colleges and universities; these institutions can be either public or private. The settings have some differences and similarities. All professors have the duties of teaching, research, and providing service, but the emphasis on these three duties vary. One can work part-time as an adjunct lecturer or full-time on the tenure track. On the tenure track there are three levels: assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor. If one want to continue into administration, there are also options. These options include department chair, program coordinator, program director, college dean, vice president, provost, president, and other positions.
