ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an example of a weekly intervention plan and a variety of intervention phase records. It presents some sample intervention record sheets and notes explaining how they were used. The case formulation session and agreement of a contract leads to the intervention phase. The intervention goals, and more particularly the weekly targets, should be observable so that it is possible to be certain when/whether change has occurred. The initial part of the intervention will need to focus on the things that will help to establish the alternative behaviours, and once they are in place it will then be possible to consider whether it will be necessary to provide any consequences for the problem behaviour itself. The record sheet that follows involved a preschool child who, at the start of the intervention, was unable to be separated from her mother.
