This book has analysed central banking governance in the EU before and after EMU was established. It has explored the multi-faceted character of central banks as public policy institutions involved in economic governance, as specialized bureaucracies (or technocracies) and sui generis as political actors active in national, international and transnational arenas, hence engaged in a variety of multi-level games.
