ABSTRACT

Kabbalah is signifi cantly different from any of the other faith brands studied here. Because it is a spiritual practice based on Judaism rather than Christianity, it does not have the built-in benefi t of a church network. There is no Vatican or Southern Baptist Conference for Jews through which to effi ciently disseminate information. Moreover, the promoters of the Kabbalah Centre are not attempting to turn synagogues into “Kabbalah Temples” in the way that Rick Warren is turning churches into Purpose Driven ones. They are trying to spread the wisdom of Kabbalah because they believe it is “a way of creating a better life.”
