ABSTRACT
This chapter considers the relation of art to urban sustainability. In the formation of strategies for sustainability, it is recognised that ecologies are inter-dependent systems which are damaged in their entirety by the destruction of any element, and that empowerment is a strategy for conviviality, that is, for a society in which people of diverse races and classes and both genders live together without the dominance of one public over another.
