ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on good memories and experiences that foster self-esteem, as well as highlighting a sense of belonging and being valued by others. It highlights the physical nature of emotions, particularly anger. The chapter explore a sense of personal empowerment, placing children in an imaginative situation of being in control. In many ways, empathy is a form of imagination, a creative ability to think and feel from different perspectives. The chapter draws on good memories and experiences that foster self-esteem, as well as highlighting a sense of belonging and being valued by others. A sense of ownership is also important to children, and integral to building healthy self-esteem.
