ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we discuss student activists’ reflections on the wisdom they cultivated as a result of engaging in activism. First, we share the framing of wisdom versus learning or benefit that encapsulates what happened as a result of student activists’ experiences. Second, we examine the motivations of students to engage their campuses and local communities via activism; many students’ motivations are tied to their identities. Third, we discuss the strategies student activists leverage to engage their institutions, campus educators and administrators, and peers in order to push for change. Finally, we circle back to those aspects of wisdom activists cultivated as a result of engaging in activism.
