ABSTRACT

In the broader theme of academic matters that are covered in Chapter 3, what some communicative agents looked for through posting their messages seeking comments online was to attain their personal knowledge or information about advisor selection that centers on such important topics as research fields, academic reputation, job security, financial support, or personal attributes. For other communicative agents, their initial postings were aimed at enhancing their understanding, or to obtain information, about academic work that involves their concerns over academic guidance, communication, solicitude, or expertness. After the postings of such academic-related messages, what followed was a series of response messages posted from communicative guiders. As they have taken on the common task of providing academic-related information to their communicative agents, these communicative guiders have been specifically renamed as academic guiders. Regardless of what academic topics some communicative agents raised on the Vivid Journal social network, these academic guiders tended to share their past experiences, conduct content analysis, and/or offer advice.
