ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on the sites where some animals are constructed as minded and mindless and explores how animal minds and the capacity to suffer have been imagined in popular culture. It explores the dynamics which highlight the importance of thinking about anthropomorphism as a situated practice and examines where the normalisation of care for other animals can become an important mobilising factor.
