ABSTRACT

This chapter considers change, past, present, and future, through models of possibilities. Historical change, through the British primary school, the United States nongraded school movement, and a resurgence of multiage education throughout the world, is illustrated. Large-scale examples from countries to systems and small-scale school-based examples are described to give educators a vision for, and range of, the possibilities of multiage education. Educators are challenged to become courageous change agents with examples of change agents in public schools, a university, and alternative schools. Multiage can open up greater possibilities for the benefit of our children, providing a better present and future for our children.
