ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses the diffusion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in response to climate change and ecological destruction, focuses on transitioning to new methods of energy production and consumption in China and Japan. It illustrates empirical diffusionist models to analyse cross-cultural and cross-national communication, translation and adaptation of the United Nation’s (UN) SDGs. The book also focuses on a wide range of literature in sociological research to build empirical diffusionist models to analyse cross-cultural and cross-national adaptation of the UN’s SDGs. It discusses social diffusion theory and relates it to the issue of climate change, explains the architecture of global governance and impact of climate change on national politics. The book provides understanding of exploratory statistics commonly used in the social sciences as it makes an original contribution to social sciences by combining qualitative political analysis with quantitative linguistic methods.
