ABSTRACT

This chapter explores several key processes which underline the complex process of the social translation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It demonstrates that multi-sectoral interaction can be a powerful intervention mechanism for effective policy-making in tackling environmental risks management issues which require important cross-sectoral collaboration. The chapter highlights corpus-based empirical analysis focuses to assess the level of interaction between these social interpreters of SDGs within each country in terms of the communication of the several key dimensions of the clean energy discourse. It provides empirical evidence on the role of the mass media as a social intervention that can be influenced and influence level of public visibility of specific industrial sectors. The theoretical approach this is applicable to the diffusion of environmental norms in order to attain SDGs in China and Japan. Top industrial bodies and councils may formulate sector-specific policies and regulatory materials to adjust the existing models of industrial operations to realign the priorities with the SDGs.
