ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book aims to explain educational leaders address two areas that shape literacy outcomes: literacy instructional practices and literacy materials that support instructional practices. It describes the agenda for the first leadership meeting and explains the review process and evaluates new programs for potential adoption. The book explains the process for pilot testing the new program and also describes the steps for curriculum mapping, rolling out the new curriculum and planning professional learning. It provides an outline for how to roll out the literacy curriculum. The appendices contain surveys, evaluation recording forms, supplemental lesson plans, and resources.
